Overview of Career

After graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Science (Microbiology), Layqah completed her Biomedicine Honours degree (Microbiology and Immunology) at the Peter Doherty Institute in 2022 from the University of Melbourne. Her project focused on investigating the IgG3 immune response to malaria infection during pregnancy and its association with small for gestational age babies with a cohort from malaria-endemic Malawi.
With the passion to continue research in malaria, Layqah is currently working as a research assistant in the Malaria Immunity and Infectious Disease Epidemiology group at the Burnet Institute to further her experience in Infectious Disease and Public Health.
