Doctor Christine Jordan

Research Officer
Christine Jordan 600 X 600
Background

Christine is a post-doctoral researcher, with a background in studying the gut microbiota and understanding its effect on regulating the immune system.  Particular focus was paid to investigating the migration of bacterial products, such as peptidoglycan, across the intestinal epithelium and their entry into circulation. Upon entering circulation, she investigated, in which tissues were they deposited, and how they influenced the immune system at these extraintestinal sites.

Recently Christine has moved into the field of women’s sexual and reproductive health. Using her expertise gained while studying the gut microbiota, she is working across multiple projects to contribute towards developing a better understanding of the role the vaginal microbiota has in HIV acquisition and adverse birth outcomes, as well as developing of tools to improve women’s health.
