Endowment Funds
Begin your ongoing legacy today.
Endowment funds (and 'endowment sub-funds') can be established to honour a family legacy or a family's philanthropic interests. These funds are vital to ensure that ongoing and sustainable funding is available for areas of greatest need in medical research and public health.
Join a small yet powerful group of Burnet supporters who have the vision and capacity to help us accelerate research into results.

Burnet Endowment Fund
The Burnet Institute Endowment Fund is a growing permanent corpus of funds which generate a vital stream of sustainable income for programs and research at Burnet.
Your gift will be invested, allowing it to generate an income to support research, now and in the future, to drive new discoveries and life-changing global health initiatives.
- Choose the area of research you would like your named sub-fund to support.
- You can put your name to scholarships, grants and fellowships.
- No fees are charged.
- A minimum of $50,000 is required, which may begin with $20,000, increasing to $50,000 within 3 years.
- Begin a sub-fund now, and consider leaving a gift in your will to grow the impact of the fund even further.
- Share progress updates with your family and friends.
Sub-funds
Within the Burnet Endowment Fund, the revenue from the sub-funds support areas that the benefactors are most passionate about, long into the future.
Current sub-funds include:
- the Geoffrey Stewardson Travel Fellowship
- the James-O’Keefe Fund for PNG
- the Jim and Margaret Beever Fellowship.
How sub-funds are managed
Your sub-fund will be expertly managed:
- The board of Burnet Institute has overall fiduciary responsibility for the Burnet Institute Endowment Fund.
- Assets of the Burnet Institute Endowment Fund are held as part of Burnet’s overall assets, with distributions made as per individual sub-fund conditions.
- Investment of the assets is through an external professional investment manager (currently Morgan Stanley Australia) using Burnet’s investment framework to maximise returns and minimise costs. No fees are charged to the sub-funds.
Further detail is available in our Endowment Fund Deed and Sub-Fund Rules. See contact information below.
