Len Dudman: making his donations count for future generations
A fundamental belief in kindness and goodwill was what drew Len Dudman to Burnet.
A fundamental belief in kindness and goodwill was what drew Len Dudman to Burnet.
For Len, it was Burnet’s purpose that truly inspired him to donate – a future where diseases are eliminated, mothers and children are thriving, the world is better prepared for health challenges and people at risk are supported to reduce harms to their health.
His belief in helping people in need was something he shared with his late wife Patricia, who was also a supporter of many philanthropic causes.
Since his first donation, Len has chosen to become a regular supporter of Burnet and recently backed Australia’s inaugural Medical Research Giving Day.
“I want to make my donations purposeful. To be able to contribute $10,000 to match donations received on the day seemed like a worthwhile endeavour,” he said.
“Matching funds dollar for dollar with those received from the public is a great incentive for others to donate and makes your contribution go further.”
Len has also made a decision to leave a gift to Burnet in his Will.
“Given the breadth of its research and the benefit to many, it is very much an organisation worthy of my support,” said Len.
“I feel like my money is assisting researchers to find breakthroughs to medical issues and eliminate diseases.”
He said his donation to medical research was deeply personal.
“Having been through my own health issues, I feel an affinity with organisations doing medical research. It is comforting to know that future generations might suffer less because of the research being conducted today.”
We really enjoy hearing from our supporters – the stories of how you first came to support us and why are so varied and so interesting.
