Background

Connor is an honours student undertaking a systematic review with the Global Women's and Newborn's Health group focusing on the cost-effectiveness of screening, diagnosis and management for haemoglobinopathies in pregnant women.

Originally from Perth, Connor relocated to Melbourne in 2018 and has completed four years of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) course at Monash University. Connor has keen research interests within the fields of health economics and global health; both of which he hopes to explore further during his time at Burnet. Connor has previously conducted research at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, publishing a paper on oropharyngeal gonorrhoea infections which he presented at the World HIV & STI Conference in 2021.

Prior to this he also conducted a narrative review investigating connections between the implementation of macroeconomic policies and HIV/AIDS transmission rates in Sub-Saharan Africa which he presented at the International Conference for Undergraduate Research.

Connor is looking forward to an interesting and challenging honours year at the Burnet Institute which is he confident will be formative and enlightening as he continues to contemplate a career as a public health physician.
