Background
Carli Roulston holds a PhD in pharmacology and brings 25 years' experience spanning biomedical research, product development, innovation and commercialisation. She has extensive experience evaluating emerging technologies and developing commercialisation strategies that translate research, intellectual property and specialist capabilities into products, services and new business opportunities.
As Head of Commercial Ventures at Burnet Institute, Carli leads the development of new internal business units and external venture opportunities arising from Burnet's research and capabilities. Her role spans commercial strategy, business model development, and investment and venture creation, with a focus on building sustainable pathways from innovation to impact.
Carli's current role builds on her previous leadership of business development at Burnet, expanding her focus from innovation pipeline development, partnerships and new business opportunities to include the creation and growth of new ventures. Prior to Burnet, she was an innovation consultant and Head of Commercialisation at The Florey Institute, with experience spanning therapeutics, medical devices and digital health.
