Background

Alex is a Research Assistant at Burnet Institute, working with Professor James Beeson's group to understand key gaps in vaccine induced immunity to SARS-CoV-2.

His work focuses on Fc functional antibody responses elicited through natural SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, to better understand antibody responses and inform optimal vaccine policy. 

Alex completed his Bachelor of Science at Monash University, majoring in Immunology and Physiology, in 2021. In 2022, he completed an honours research project at Burnet Institute.

Understanding immunity mediated by the RTS,S malaria vaccine in children

We're researching the immune responses induced by the RTS,S vaccine where the burden of malaria is highest: among young children in multiple malaria-endemic African countries.
