Background
Aung Aung is a public health physician and an epidemiologist having clinical, research, and programmatic management experiences responding to infectious diseases especially HIV, TB, and Hepatitis C.
Aung has a wide range of experience working in the context of disease epidemic, conflicts, refugees/IDPs, and medical emergencies across Africa, and Central, South, and Southeast Asia.
He is interested in outbreak response, operational research, disease modelling, and spatial analysis.

Systematic Community-Wide Engagement and Elimination Project for Tuberculosis (SWEEP-TB) in Daru, Western Province, Papua New Guinea
This community-centred public health project will screen all residents of Daru, Papua New Guinea to detect, treat and prevent tuberculosis.

SORT-IT PNG
In 2022-2023, Burnet is facilitating PNG's second Structured Operational Research and Training Initiative (SORT-IT) course, with a cohort of nine senior healthcare professionals from six provinces. The course is implemented in partnership with the National Department of Health, University of PNG, and PNG Institute of Medical Research.
