Background

Mia is a Research Assistant in the Eliminate Viral Hepatitis team. Her current projects support and investigate the expansion of HCV testing and treatment within international settings.

Mia completed an advanced Honours degree at Monash University, Australia, majoring in immunology and microbiology. She has a keen interest in the application of these study areas through public health, which fed into her honours project at the Burnet Institute in 2022. This project investigated COVID-19 vaccination access and uptake, including demand and supply side challenges within Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands.

Mia has always held professional interest in environmental science and its relationship with consumerism. Previous self-led research during an internship with Reluv resulted in the publication of a pioneering review on the state of fashion resale in Australia. This research had a particular focus on the environmental footprint of this sector and quantitative predictions of its future impact.

Current professional focus is on project design and implementation, and outcome communication to at risk populations of a variety of viral diseases.
