Using mathematical models to generate evidence to support Australia’s COVID-19 responses and prepare for future pandemics

Objective

This project builds on lessons from analysis of previous COVID-19 outbreaks in Australia, develops methods for performing and effectively translating disease outbreak modelling for global stakeholders, and produces evidence which can inform future pandemic responses.

Timeline

2022–2025

Approach

This project involves a mix of methodological and analytical modelling studies focused on disease outbreak response, for both known and novel pathogens.

Community Impact

The studies performed during Dominic's PhD will contribute to the evidence base for better informed outbreak response strategies. Work with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance will help inform the benefits of past and future investment in vaccine stockpiles for outbreak response in low-and-middle-income countries.
