Global Health: Policy, Practice and Community Action
We translate research into sustainable health solutions for vulnerable communities through health system strengthening, improved health service delivery and empowerment.

About this group
We partner with communities around the world to develop and promote new strategies, tools and practices to achieve greater health equity. We also work with Burnet researchers to translate research findings into tangible health impacts.
Our aim is to empower communities to improve health-seeking behaviours and health literacy. We work with many communities to better understand and address the underlying factors that prevent access to crucial health care services such as family planning, postnatal and newborn care, vaccination, HIV prevention and care, and nutrition.
We achieve better health outcomes for vulnerable communities by:
- advancing health literacy and communications
- leading co-design processes with communities
- creating meaningful local partnerships
- disseminating best practices
- empowering communities
- strengthening health systems
- improving service delivery.
We also contribute to improving sexual and reproductive health for men and women, and we work to advance gender equality and prevent gender-based violence.
Our work increases the capacity of health professionals, researchers and policy makers through education and training. This in turn strengthens health systems so that they are more responsive to the health needs of individuals and communities.
