Shiv Nair

Background

With more than 25 years of experience in the global development sector across Asia, Africa and the Pacific, Shiv brings a wealth of integrated development expertise focused on human rights. Before joining Burnet Institute in July 2025, Shiv held senior leadership positions at organizations such as FHI 360, Save the Children, and World Vision in the Asia-Pacific region.

Shiv is passionate about applying systemic approaches to achieve robust program outcomes in public health and broader development. He has lived and worked extensively in the Pacific, particularly in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, and he possesses a deep cultural understanding of Melanesian communities.

In his spare time, Shiv enjoys reading and exploring complex legal and policy issues affecting Indigenous peoples in Australia and the Pacific.

  • 1998: Masters in Social Work, University of Delhi
  • 1994: Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics, University of Delhi
