Rachael is a PhD student at Burnet Institute and Deakin University, working with the Malaria Virulence, Drug Discovery and Resistance group and the Infectious Diseases Systems Epidemiology group. Her project focuses on predicting the impact of antimalarial resistance in West African parasites. She is supervised by Dr Charles Narh, Dr Hayley Bullen, and Professor Alyssa Barry.
Rachael first joined Burnet in 2024 as an honours student with Alyssa Barry's group, where she explored the prevalence of antimalarial resistance mutations in Southeast Asia. Since then, she has worked as a research assistant reviewing the co-occurrence of antimalarial drug resistance and hrp2/3 deletions in Africa.
