Hannah Vogt

Research Officer, CONNECT C

Hannah Vogt

Background

Hannah is the research officer for the Connect C project at Burnet Institute. She is a graduate of Australia's field epidemiology training programme – the Master of Philosophy (Applied Epidemiology) through the Australian National University. Hannah brings extensive experience in public health and communicable disease control across South Australia and Western Australia.

Hannah has successfully managed communicable disease control programmes spanning routine surveillance, data analysis and outbreak investigation. In South Australia, she led a major project implementing and monitoring a new laboratory information management system for notifiable disease surveillance, requiring expertise in notifiable diseases, laboratory testing methods and national case definitions. During the COVID-19 response, Hannah maintained and enhanced the state-wide surveillance database. She led improvements including the development of separate user journeys, implementation of SMS surveys for cases, prioritisation of case follow-up through live dashboards, and support for the automation of pathology result linkage. Most recently, she helped refine, upgrade and streamline the syphilis data management system for Boorloo (Perth) Public Health unit.

Her professional interests include surveillance systems, communicable disease control, data management optimisation and leveraging technology to enhance public health outcomes.
