
Background
David heads the Support Services group: Laboratory Operations and Facilities Support. He supports a diverse team of operational support professionals who ensure Burnet’s laboratories and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
David began his Burnet journey at the laboratory bench as a post-doctoral researcher before moving into operational management. He is a virologist by training and has a researcher background in protein chemistry, diagnostic assay, anti-viral and vaccine development.
David’s operational areas of expertise include certified laboratories Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2), High-Containment Physical Containment Level 3 (PC3) Laboratories, Approved Arrangements Facilities (DAWE), Infection Control, Biosafety and Risk Management.
