Background
Amaya Ortega is a project manager for the EC Australia flagship initiative at Burnet. She was previously the lab manager for the Cellular Responses to Disease and Vaccination group, where she supported the coordination of malaria immunology projects, oversaw day-to-day laboratory operations, and managed logistics and research governance processes.
With a background in immunology and tropical medicine, Amaya has worked across multiple studies and international collaborations to ensure research activities are well-organised, compliant and effectively supported throughout their lifecycle. She has also been involved in the Institute’s My Green Lab certification work, contributing to sustainability-focused laboratory practices.
