Professor Melissa Churchill

Burnet Associate


Molecular virologist Professor Melissa Churchill was one of Burnet Institutes longest-serving and groundbreaking HIV scientists.

She joined Burnet in the 1980s when it was based near the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Fairfield in Melbourne and spent 27 years with the Institute. Professor Churchill took up a research-only Professorial position with RMIT in 2016, moving her HIV Neuropathogenesis Laboratory with her.

Professor Churchill was appointed a Burnet Associate in 2016.
