International evidence supports the strengthening of midwifery education as a means of delivering quality midwifery care. High quality midwifery care results in improved outcomes for women, newborns, families and communities, with the ultimate aim of reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates.
Currently, many low and middle-income countries rely on international technical assistance in curriculum development and implementation. This Faculty Development Program supports local educators in developing the skills, knowledge and expertise in strengthening quality midwifery education, thus building capacity in local educators to develop and implement quality education.
