Strengthen Emergency Obstetric Newborn Care (EmONC) training through a Master Train-the-Trainer Program

Master training in Laos

Burnet Institute’s team is working with UNFPA Asia Pacific Regional Office to rollout the Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) and Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) training programs. These programs take a train-the-trainer approach to building knowledge, skills and capacity in recognising and appropriately responding to common emergencies. The team provides a Master Training Program to selected expert maternity care providers and then mentors the new trainers in stepdown training.

In 2019, the team provided Master training and mentoring in Papua New Guinea, Bhutan and Laos with plans to continue the rollout in Cambodia, Indonesia, Pakistan and several other locations.
