Eudaemon Technologies has developed a next-generation condom known as the Geldom. Alongside initial research and development activities undertaken at Swinburne University of Technology and University of Wollongong to develop this next-gen condom, the team also developed new methodologies to assess preference and acceptability of the device.
This project aims to produce a condom that people actually want to use. If achieved this would revolutionise safe sex, STI prevention and family planning.
With funding from the Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund (VMRAF), Burnet Institute and Eudaemon Technologies are currently undertaking a pilot functionality study of the Geldom. The initial phase of this study will assess the safety, acceptability and preference of the Geldom in comparison to a standard commercial condom.
Further clinical trials will be conducted to gain regulatory approval from the Food and Drug Administration in the United States and the Therapeutic Goods Administration in Australia.
