Sepsis is a lethal disease in Australia and globally. There has never been a greater need to develop a test that can provide a rapid diagnosis.
Dimitri’s interest in pursuing medical research as a career path was guided by work experience at the Monash Institute of Medical Research in Year 10 and accelerated VCE biology study at McKinnon Secondary College.
He went onto graduate from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in immunology & microbiology.
Dimitri is currently completing his Honours in Microbiology with Monash University at the Burnet Institute.
His project focuses on the characterisation of a novel retrovirus discovered in an Australian fruit bat reservoir.
