Burnet Chairman Mr Rob Milne addresses the Alastair Lucas Tribute Sevrice

Burnet Chair Rob Milne has pledged to do all in his power to honour the ‘amazing contribution’ of the man he succeeds, the late Alastair Lucas AO.

A Burnet Director since December 2000, Mr Milne took over as Acting Chair when Mr Lucas was diagnosed with a brain tumour in September 2014.

The Burnet Board ratified Mr Milne as Chair on July 21 following Mr Lucas’ tragic passing earlier in the month at the age of 63.

With a background in engineering and more than four decades of experience in the building and construction industry, Mr Milne has been Chairman of Cockram Construction since 2000.

He joined Cockram in 1984 as Managing Director and oversaw the company’s growth through the 1990s, helping to establish it as a specialist high-tech design and construction contractor throughout Australia and Asia.

Addressing the Tribute Service for Mr Lucas at Melbourne’s Federation Square, Mr Milne spoke glowingly of his predecessor’s vision and passion for Burnet.

“He leaves behind an amazing contribution and shoes that are very hard to fill,” Mr Milne said.

“But fill them we shall, as we seek to enhance the scope, nature and output of Burnet and its people in order to fulfil Alastair’s dream of improving the health outcomes of poor and marginalised communities in Australia and elsewhere.

“Our lives are all enriched by having known and loved this greatly honourable man.”
