Sir Kostas Constantinou a Burnet Patron

Burnet Institute’s links with Papua New Guinea (PNG) have been strengthened by the appointment of businessman Sir Kostas Constantinou OBE as a Patron of the Institute.

Sir Kostas holds a number of high-level public sector and private sector appointments, and has extensive experience in the building and construction industry in PNG since his appointment as General Manager and Director of the Constantinou Group of Companies in 1982.

He is Chairman of several private companies including Airways Hotel & Apartments Limited, Lamana Hotel Limited, Lamana Development Limited and Hebou Construction Limited.

A member of the PNG and Australian Institute of Company Directors, Sir Kostas is Chairman of Bank of the South Pacific Limited and Director of Oil Search Limited.

He serves as Deputy President of the Employers’ Federation of PNG and is the Honorary Consul for Greece in PNG, Honorary Consul for Cyprus in PNG and Trade Commissioner for Solomon Islands to PNG.

Sir Kostas’ community roles include the Chairmanship of Anglicare Foundation and 2015 South Pacific Games Authority, and he’s a member of the Salvation Army Red Shield Advisory Board.

Sir Kostas was knighted in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honours for his contribution to the PNG community.

Sir Kostas’ appointment takes to 14 the number of Burnet Patrons including Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, Professor Allan Fels AO, Eddie McGuire AM, and Patron in Chief of the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Program, Dame Carol Kidu DBE.
