International health expert, Ms Helen Evans appointed to Burnet Board

Burnet Institute welcomes the appointment of a new director to its Board, former Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the GAVI Alliance in Geneva, Ms Helen Evans.

Ms Evans has extensive experience in international public health and social policy, having served on the board of UNAIDS, and in various advisory and strategic policy roles throughout her stellar career.

From 2009 until her retirement in 2014, Ms Evans was Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the GAVI Alliance. Prior to that role, she served as Deputy Executive Director at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria from 2005 to 2009.

Ms Evans has also managed the National Communicable Diseases Program in the Federal Department of Health, and the Australian Government Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.

“We are very pleased that Helen has joined the Board and I know she will greatly contribute to the future strategic direction of the Institute,” Acting Chairman of the Burnet Board, Mr Robert Milne said.
