Congratulations to former Director of Burnet, Professor John Mills who has received an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to medicine as a researcher and physician in the field of infectious diseases, particularly HIV and AIDS, to medical administration, and to the development of Australia’s biotechnology industry.
John was the (Managing) Director of the Burnet from 1992 to 2002, and during that time oversaw the development of an International Health Unit and the founding of AAMRI, the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes, the peak body representing medical research institutes and now including over 40 members.
