Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet OM, AK, KBE
Burnet Institute Deputy Director, Associate Professor David Anderson has spoken on ABC Radio about Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet’s legacy.
Speaking with Gerard Callinan on ABC Radio in Gippsland, Sir Frank’s birthplace, Associate Professor Anderson said the Institute combines the laboratory research ‘Mac’ Burnet did with finding practical ways to apply these discoveries worldwide.
“I was very fortunate to meet Sir Frank as an undergraduate, he wasn’t active anymore but sharp as a tack. Meeting someone like that is fantastic for a young scientist who is deciding what they want to do with their life,” Associate Professor Anderson said.
“Australia continues to punch well above its weight in scientific endeavour and we need to celebrate our bright lights in science.”
