NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by all Australians from all walks of life.

This year’s theme, ‘Heal Country!’, highlights the significance of Country and its intimate relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ identity – spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially and culturally.

Country is more than a place – it is family, kin, law, lore, ceremony, traditions, and language.

Burnet Institute is committed to NAIDOC Week and the importance of this year’s theme.

We stand with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in …

• calling for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of our culture for all Australians
• celebrating their rich and diverse heritage
• supporting them to lead the education of non-Indigenous people about Country.

“This year’s theme really touches me, as country and well-being are so intrinsically linked. It also makes me think of urban mobs who love Country and how they stay connected to Country,” said Troy Combo, Program Manager at Burnet.
