Burnet Institute was honoured to host Her Excellency Ms Busadee Santipitaks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, during her recent visit to Melbourne.
The visit was aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and strengthening ties between Thailand and the State of Victoria, with a special focus on opportunities to promote economic and sectoral collaboration during the post-COVID-19 recovery.

On a tour of Burnet’s facilities and laboratories, Ambassador Busadee discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and the potential for cooperation in medical and emerging disease research as well as disease preparedness with Burnet Program Director for Disease Elimination, Professor Heidi Drummer, and Executive General Manager, Public Affairs and External Relations, Paul Rathbone.
Ambassador Busadee was briefed on Burnet’s latest COVID-19 research, and the Institute’s work across HIV, malaria and hepatitis C.
