Burnet Institute extends its warmest congratulations to Natasha Stott Despoja AO who has been elected to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
CEDAW is a body of 23 experts from around the world that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. Ms Stott Despoja is the first Australian member on the Committee in 28 years.
Ms Stott Despoja is a former Burnet Institute board member and a lifelong advocate for gender equality and champion of women and girls.
Burnet CEO Professor Brendan Crabb said: “Natasha’s commitment to gender equity and ending violence against women and girls is exemplary and she will be a powerful advocate and an impressive and important role model in Australia and globally."
