The 2020 Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes conference will be held online, using a dedicated interactive conference platform. Going online will allow the event to three days, provide more content of interest, and increase event capacity.
Speakers this year include Dame Sally Davies (former UK Chief Medical Officer), and Dr Michael Strong (President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research).
Burnet Director and CEO Professor Brendan Crabb AC will be appearing in a panel discussion about the future of medical research post-pandemic at midday on Wednesday, December 9.
There will also be panel discussions on research, workforce, and funding, as well as the launch of white paper for a new policy agenda for medical research.
Special sessions are also a part of the program, on topics including:
- building MRI commercialisation
- managing new cyber security risks in MRIs
- where philanthropy will be heading in 2021.
Australia’s Health Minister, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, will address the Convention, as will the Shadow Health Minister, the Hon Chris Bowen MP.
The CSL Florey Next Generation Awards will also be presented, and special guests, Bernie Hobbs, Dr Kyle Kruszelnicki and Rae Johnston will join the conference.
