World Health Day | 7 April 2016

Each year Burnet Institute joins the international community in marking the significance of World Health Day.

First recognised in 1947, World Health Day is now a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April.

This year World Health Organization is promoting the theme ‘Beat Diabetes’. The main goals of the World Health Day 2016 campaign are to increase awareness about the rise in diabetes, and its staggering burden and consequences, in particular in low- and middle- income countries; and to trigger a set of specific, effective and affordable actions to tackle diabetes.

Burnet Institute AMREP partner, the Baker IDI focuses on diabetes research in Australia.
