The 18th International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI), Asia Pacific Conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 11-14 November 2014.
The conference is jointly hosted by the Consortium of Thai training Institutes for STDs and AIDS (COTTISA), Bureau of AIDS / TB and STIs, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health and Faculty of Medicine, University of Phayao.
The theme of the conference is ‘STI, HIV and Sexual Health Global Collaboration for Effective Prevention’.
Burnet Institute’s Associate Professor Mark Stoové will present his research on the PRONTO! rapid HIV testing service entitled ‘Acceptability and Client Engagement at a Community-based and Peer-led Rapid HIV Testing Service for Men Who Have Sex with Men’.
The PRONTO! testing service in Melbourne, the first of its kind in Australia, provides rapid HIV testing in community-based setting using a nurse and peer-led model.
The IUSTI Conference will provide opportunities for all experts, specialists, clinicians, nurses, public health workers, social workers, primary health care workers and students who work in the field of STI, HIV and sexual health to interact with leaders in this field.
The conference will allow attendees to exchange ideas and explore the latest developments in applied clinical, laboratory, epidemiology and public health interventions, as well as to learn and share experiences and challenges in the prevention and control of STI, HIV and sexual health.
