This year we are shining the spotlight on two brilliant researchers, Professor Gilda Tachedjian and Dr Lindi Masson, and their work to unlock the vaginal microbiome to reduce risk of HIV infection and preterm birth.
Professor Gilda Tachedjian is a pioneer in the study of genital microbiota, and in deepening our understanding of the protective properties of lactic acid.
“I’m fascinated about how an optimal vaginal microbiota is protective to some extent against HIV infection and also other STIs, and then more broadly adverse reproductive health outcomes as well, like preterm birth” —Professor Tachedjian
