Burnet is taking up the fight to end the HIV epidemic, but we can only do it with your support.

HIV elimination will take a lot of effort on many fronts. Burnet is working in all areas to eliminate this deadly infection:

  • Developing a novel HIV vaccine candidate
  • Creating a simple HIV blood test for infants
  • Understanding the role of the vaginal microbiome in preventing HIV
  • Providing a toolkit for people living with HIV in Papua New Guinea
  • 21 other projects among our 15 groups working to eliminate HIV

Without your support, none of it is possible.

HIV still remains one of the greatest challenges to human health today.

  • More than 36 million people are living with HIV and AIDS around the world.
  • It’s estimated that nearly a million people still lose their lives to AIDS-related illnesses each year.
  • Globally, women carry more of the burden of HIV than men.
  • More than 1.3 million babies are born to HIV infected mothers each year.

While the numbers remain distressing, they are not insurmountable.

In fact, we’re living in exciting times when the elimination of HIV has become a real possibility.

Your donation today will push all closer to eliminating HIV.

“The multi-disciplinary aspect of our HIV research and public health projects makes us distinctive. But it’s the commitment, skill and talent of our people that makes us truly unique.”
