When Matt Perry was recently diagnosed with HIV, he was thankful for the love and support he knew he could count on from family and friends.

But the 32-year-old couldn’t help thinking about others also living with HIV who would benefit if medical researchers could find a cure.

So he set himself a challenge to take him outside his comfort zone while raising money for HIV research underway at Burnet Institute.

He conceived a testing 200km ‘Ride for HIV’ on 21 November through the city and suburbs of Perth, a course which takes in each of the 14 stores of his employer, Escape Travel.

Matt wants his work colleagues to feel part of the exercise and for Burnet to benefit from the generosity of his supporters and anyone interested in promoting research into finding a cure for HIV.

You’ll be able to follow Matt’s progress on the ride via a live GPS tracker on Facebook, and he’ll be posting regular updates.

Burnet Institute will also be keeping tabs on Matt’s preparations via Facebook and Twitter.
