What is international health?

We see international health as those health issues that affect the majority world. For most of the world’s population, health is challenged by diseases and other obstacles of poverty or marginalisation. These need to be addressed through empowered and educated communities, and through stronger, fairer and more responsive health systems.

So, our work aims to support:

  • community health development, taking a broad approach encompassing social, cultural and economic determinants of health and vulnerability;
  • strengthening health systems, in both preventive and curative services; and
  • other efforts, commonly termed global health, applying public health practice to health problems that cross national boundaries and are affected by global forces.
