Research supporting policy and practice in low-income countries

The inaugural AMREP World Health Day symposium was held on Monday 7 April 2008 at Coppin Hall in Melbourne and was well attended by 190 participants. It was hosted by the AMREP Global Health Research Consortium and brought together researchers, practitioners and policy-makers from academia, research institutes, government agencies and NGOs, to exchange experiences, case-studies and ideas on the links between research and improving health program effectiveness and policy in developing countries.

The Hon. Bob McMullan, Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance opened proceedings with Dr David Karoly from the School of Health Sciences, University of Melbourne, as keynote speaker.
