About MIGIH
The group was formed as MICHIG in 2001 to promote networking and strengthen collaboration between Melbourne-based international health practitioners, through regular meetings of people who have an interest in any aspect of international child public health practice.
In 2002 the focus was expanded and the name changed to MICAHIG to include adolescent health.
In early 2004 with the arrival of AIHI into the group, the coverage was broadened to cover most aspects of international public health practice, along with the name change to MIGIH to reflect this.
The main activity of MIGIH is a series of lunchtime meetings, which may take the form of presentations/discussions or 'round-table' discussions of current activities, including research activities.
Coordination and timing of MICHIG meetings is shared between the Centre for International Child Health, the Burnet Institute's Centre for International Health, and the Australian International Health Institute.
