Pacific Island  Countries and Territories (PICTs)

The Pacific Islands are made up of 22 island countries and territories each with diverse cultures, economies, geography, politics and populations. The Islands are divided culturally into three regions: Micronesia, Polynesia and Melanesia.

In total, the entire region has a population of more than eight million – just 0.1 per cent of the world’s population, with three out of four Islanders living in rural areas.

The Pacific Regional HIV/AIDS Project is being implemented across 14 countries, including the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji; Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu and Tokelau; the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and the Cook Islands; and Nauru, Niue, Palau and Kiribati.
