In 2004, CHR initiated two Masters level short courses in partnership with the Australian International Health Institute (AIHI), The University of Melbourne.

The subjects, Global Health Impacts of Drug Use, and Harm Reduction: Controlling HIV in Drug Users, are designed for health program planners and managers, health practitioners such as doctors, nurses, and social workers, especially those working in HIV and drug control programs.

A specifically tailored version of these courses is being run in Jakarta, Indonesia through a partnership with the Atma Jaya Catholic University, under funding from AusAID.

Negotiations are currently underway to establish the courses in the public health curriculum of local universities in Malaysia and China, along with preliminary discussions to run them in Vietnam.
