These initiatives consitute a considerable investment in tackling an important public health challenge and, as with any major public health initiative, it is important that they are effectively evaluated.
In response, the Burnet Institute, on behalf of the DHS, are undertaking an evaluation to asses the effectiveness of current HIV prevention initiatives.
Completing three on-line surveys over a nine month period. That's only 1 survey every 3 months and upon completion of each online survey, participants will be reimbursed $30 for their time.
Surveys will include questions on socio-demographics, testing and sexual risk behaviour, campaign recognition, and dialogue among your peers and in the community.
Privacy, Confidentiality and Consent....
All surveys will be de-identified and strictly confidential. All identifying information will be stored separately from survey responses at all times making your responses anonymous.
We are also conducting focus groups designed to discuss the campaigns in more detail. By completing an online survey participants may be invited to participate in these discussions. Involvement in these discussions is completely voluntary.
This evaluation has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the Department of Human Services.

This evaluation will provide timely information to government, community and other policy and program stakeholders and help inform future HIV prevention initiatives.
